Welcome to the website of Melissaidan Egyptian Maus. We are a small hobby cattery breeding and exhibiting quality pedigree Egyptian Maus. We are registered with Felis Britannica, the UK member of the Federation Internationale Feline (FIFe), the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) and The International Cat Association (TICA). Our cats are regularly exhibited at shows governed by all of these bodies. We have FIFe, GCCF & TICA Champions and Grand Champions amongst our cats and to date we have won 91 Best of Breed awards.

We are one of the most successful Egyptian Mau breeders in the UK. At the end of the 2010 show season we were awarded TICA Best Egyptian Mau of the Year Western Europe Region with our home bred silver girl, TICA GRAND CHAMPION & FIFe CHAMPION Melissaidan Angel Eyes (Angel) and TICA Best Egyptian Mau Kitten of the Year Western Europe Region with our former stud cat, Pollystar Amsu-Ra (Amsu). We were especially delighted with these achievements as it is the first time that both awards have gone to one UK cattery in the same year!
  We ended the year with success in the Felis Britannica (FIFe) Cat of the Year Awards 2010, when our home bred girl TICA GRAND CHAMPION & FIFe CHAMPION Melissaidan Angel Eyes (Angel) won Best Egyptian Mau. This followed our success in 2009 when one of our former Egyptian Mau stud cats, FIFe, GCCF & TICA CHAMPION Mauisha Nepherhotep (Hotep) achieved Best Egyptian Mau Adult and our other former stud cat Pollystar Amsu-Ra (Amsu), was the Best Egyptian Mau Kitten. This followed our success in 2009 when Hotep became the first, and remains the only Egyptian Mau in the UK, to be awarded the title of Champion under all three UK governing bodies.
In 2011 we exported one of our male kittens, Melissaidan Amsu Ra-Mes, to the Danish breeders Amenhotep Egyptian Maus. He is set to become the first ever Egyptian Mau stud cat in Denmark and we are honoured that Sune & Susan chose us.
Here in the UK we are members of the Egyptian Mau Club. In addition to the national breed club we are also members of several local cat clubs. You can find information about many of these on our Links page.
We are also international members of the TICA Egyptian Mau Breed Group and honoured to be one of the very few UK members of the Global Egyptian Mau Society (GEMS), the worldwide body dedicated to the breed. GEMS primary purpose is to promote and improve the breeding and welfare of Egyptian Maus. As GEMS members we agree to adhere to a statement of ethics, confirming that we believe in responsible breeding programmes.
Our aim is to produce kittens which meet the breed standards, whilst ensuring that they are healthy and robust with faultless temperaments.
We are currently taking an extended break from breeding and have no litters planned for the foreseeable future.
