About Melissaidan

We are Mike and Gail and we live in Kent, the garden of England, with our two daughters, Emma and Chloe. Our cattery prefix comes from a combination of our daughters' middle names, Melissa and Aidan, hence Melissaidan.

We share our home with our Egyptian Maus, GCCF CHAMPION Oitamonsoon Amelia (Topaz) and our young queen, Acclaim Across The Water (Lula). In addition we have two cross bred neuters, Solomon and Jazz.

Our house is a normal busy family home and we ensure that our kittens are raised in this environment from day one. This means that by the time they are ready to leave us they are used to noise, children and other animals. We believe this gives them the ideal preparation to develop into strong confident cats with their own individual personalities.

We are experienced breeders of pedigree cats and pride ourselves on adhering to both the GCCF and TICA Codes of Ethics. Mike is currently a member of the Felis Britannica Disciplinary Investigations Panel. In November 2010 we were honoured to be invited to write an article on the Egyptian Mau for the first ever edition of the national feline publication, Cat Planet Monthly.

All of our queens live indoors but when we are home they have access to a large outdoor enclosure enabling them to get plenty of fresh air and exercise. They all look forward to this and we only have to open the carrying basket, call and they come running, wherever they are in the house!

The Egyptian Mau ia a breed with a wonderful endearing character. They love people and want to spend a lot of time with them. They generally get on well with other cats and can form strong bonds with any pet dogs.
