Amsu joined our cat family in August 2009 at just thirteen weeks of age. His sire is USA import Bacamdit's Abydos and his dam is Santillo Tameri. His pedigree boasts a total of 14 USA Champions and Grand Champions. He is a beautiful clean coloured silver with good contrast. He has a wonderfully affectionate and inquisitive personality. To see a copy of his pedigree click here.
Although Amsu carries smoke, he does not carry blue. We would be happy to provide a copy of his test results from the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, on request.
We named him Amsu-Ra after Amsu, one of the ancient gods of Egypt, the personification of reproduction, and Ra, in Egyptian mythology the father of creation. We felt this combination was particularly apt for a stud cat!
Amsu is replacing our former stud cat Hotep who retired in November 2009. Initially while we allow him to mature, he will be at closed stud. Once he is proven we will look to change his status to limited stud by invitation only, and finally, to public stud. He will be available to suitably registered and tested Egyptian Mau queens and queens of breeds where the Mau is a permitted outcross (eg. Savannahs). Amsu has his own spacious stud quarters, with heated indoor accomodation, including separate queens quarters, and an outside exercise area. He shares this with his live-in companion Solomon, our neutered cross-bred boy.
As with Hotep, Amsu brings some new bloodlines to the Egyptian Mau breed here in the South of England. We are forever indebted to Morag Lang of Pollystar Cats in Scotland for allowing him to come and live with us and to hopefully playing a significant role in the future development and improvement of the breed.
Amsu attended his first ever show in October 2009 and had a red letter day! At the Felis Britannica (FIFe) show at Edenbridge he won a Nomination and then capped the day by winning Best in Show Kitten! The following month he repeated this achievement at the invitation only FIFe International Winners Show 2009, yet again winning Best in Show Kitten! He finished the year off in style by winning the Felis Britannica (FIFe) Cat of the Year Awards 2009 Best Egyptian Mau Kitten and the Garden of England Cat Club Cat of the Year Awards 2009 Best Egyptian Mau.
Under GCCF he has currently won 3 Firsts and 1 Best of Breed.
Under TICA he has been awarded 1 Speciality Final plus 6 Best of Breed and 6 Colour Firsts.
